SamBoad and AiDenteh Foundation to Raise Funds for a Mental Health Initiative for Ghana Women’s Football Clubs

Accra, Ghana – August 21, 2024 – AiDenteh Foundation and Samboad Business Group Ltd. combines to raise funds to launch a groundbreaking initiative aimed at addressing mental health issues among female athletes in Ghana. The initiative by AiDenteh, themed “My Mental Health,” falls under the AiD-Education initiative and is designed to provide much-needed support to women’s football clubs across the country.

“My Mental Health” initiative is a vital program that recognizes the unique challenges faced by female athletes, particularly those in football. These challenges often include intense pressure to perform, limited access to mental health resources, and societal expectations that can weigh heavily on young girls in sports in Ghana. The AiDenteh Foundation, under the leadership of its Founder and President, Aicha Amoako Denteh, is committed to ensuring that these athletes receive the mental health support they need to thrive both on and off the field.

Aicha has expressed the importance of this initiative, stating, “Mental health is just as important as physical health, especially for our female athletes who are constantly striving to achieve their best. Through the ‘My Mental Health’ initiative, we aim to provide these young girls with the tools and support they need to manage their mental well-being. This initiative is not just about awareness, but about action—ensuring that our athletes have access to the resources and support systems they need.”

To bring this vision to life, AiDenteh Foundation is joining forces with Samboad Business Group Ltd., a company known for its commitment to community development and corporate social responsibility. Founder and Digital Marketing Lead at Samboad Business Group Ltd who also doubles as the Digital Marketing Lead at AiDenteh Foundation, Samuel Kwame Boadu, highlighted the company’s dedication to the cause, stating, “At Samboad, we believe in the power of sports to transform lives. However, we also recognize that the mental health of our athletes is often overlooked. This partnership with AiDenteh Foundation is an opportunity for us to make a real difference by supporting female footballers in Ghana. We are committed to raising the necessary funds and providing the resources needed to ensure the success of this initiative.”

The “My Mental Health” project will be rolled out in multiple phases, targeting women’s football clubs across Ghana. The program will include workshops, counseling sessions, and an ongoing support for female athletes. To fund this crucial initiative, AiDenteh Foundation and Samboad will reach out to corporate bodies, both locally and internationally, to garner financial support.

The fundraising strategy will include a series of corporate sponsorship packages that offer companies the opportunity to align their brands with a cause that is both timely and impactful. In return for their support, corporate sponsors will receive widespread recognition through various media channels, including social media, online news portals, and prints, as well as branding opportunities at events and workshops organized under the “My Mental Health” initiative.

“We are confident that with the support of corporate Ghana, we can make this initiative a success,” said  Collins Otoo, Administrator and General Secretary at AiDenteh. “This is not just about providing financial backing; it’s about being part of a movement that prioritizes the well-being of our female athletes and sets a precedent for how we care for our sportswomen.”

My Mental Health” initiative is poised to become a beacon of hope for female athletes in Ghana, setting a new standard for how mental health is addressed in sports. As AiDenteh Foundation and Samboad Business Group Ltd. continue to rally support from corporate bodies, the future looks bright for the young women who will benefit from this transformative program.
